“What can’t be written or voiced in words can be felt in music,” says singer/songwriter Anthony Mossburg. “Everyone’s history and experiences are so unique, it can be difficult to connect with words alone. But the feelings conveyed in music can mean a thousand things to a thousand different people - all at the same time - and I think that’s incredible.”

With several bootstrap tours, three independent albums, and multiple singles under his belt, Mossburg’s accolades as a musician have been accumulating in excess over the past 12 years. He released his breakthrough song, “Whiskey and Wine” in early 2015 - breaking into the Top 10 on the coveted iTunes Singer/Songwriter category. The song also received Singer/Songwriter Song of the Year by Ohio Music Awards. Other achievements include 2018 Music City Song Star, 2018 IAMA Male Artist of the Year Runner-Up, and 2016 Country Album of the Year by Ohio Music Awards. In 2022, his single “My Drug” claimed the #1 spot on iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts and remained there for almost two weeks, while charting in the top 50 of iTunes Top 100 Songs.

Of course, accomplishments go hand in hand with some disappointments as well. When discussing the hardest part thus far, Mossburg says, “This industry can be defeating. You pour all this passion into creating something from nothing, but at the end of the day, some people just aren’t going to like it. Learning to accept that is tough and takes a lot of thick skin. Simultaneously, being able to create something authentic that resonates with other people makes every harsh review or critique worth it.”

Thankfully he stuck with the industry despite the disappointments, and made 2020 a landmark year. Mossburg released a piano version of “Whiskey & Wine,” which received recognition as one of American Songwriter’s Top 35 Songs of 2020. He also made the decision to leave Ohio and pursue his music career in Nashville, TN. Discussing the transition, Mossburg says, “Growing up in a small, Midwest town was awesome and uneventful, all at the same time. Ultimately, I hit a point where I was feeling stagnant creatively. Moving to Nashville has allowed me to expand my base and grow as a songwriter while remaining authentic in my sound.”

So what’s next on the docket for Anthony Mossburg?

“This year will be a little different as far as music releases are concerned. I have already started working on some original music I’m really excited about, but I’ll be putting out some cover songs I’ve recorded as well.”

Is he country? Is he rock? the answer is yes. take everything you love about Maynard James Keenan, Aaron Lewis, and Cody Johnson - then sit back and watch a guy and a guitar own a room. Powerful.
